Okay, so I have been citing Pols a lot, but it is getting entertaining. I know this has been said before, but Tancredo has decided not to run for Senate and appearently is tired of his old house seat, especially since the GOP is in the minority. I'm guessing he doesn't think that will change anytime soon. I don't get it. He breaks his term-limits pledge because (in theory) he feels that he is needed for true immigration reform. But now he's sick of congress? And now, he has decided to run for President, even though he is almost certain to get wiped out in the primaries.
Well, here's a little of what Pols has to say about it:
While Tancredo does not seriously think he can win the Presidency, Republicans say that he has tired of being in congress - particularly now that the GOP is in the minority - and is looking to push all of his chips on the table. The best-case scenario for Tancredo is to do well enough in a Republican primary campaign to be considered for a Vice Presidential slot, which isn't unthinkable given that he came in second in a county straw poll in South Carolina. In the worst-case scenario, Tancredo raises his name ID significantly and then picks up a nice fat job running a think tank somewhere.

Well Tom, I hate to tell you, but when your party was in the majority, you were not all that effective. You were a backbencher that no other Republican (or Democrat) wanted anything to do with. Now, you have gone to the very back bench (if you are even sitting on a bench). So, bye bye Tom. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
But anyway, what does he hope to accomplish? Another conservative Republican Rep from California is planning on running to. Duncan Hunter. He has similar views to Tancredo, and actually has street cred. I could imagine that Hunter could steal a good chunk of Tancredo's support if he played his cards right. If Tancredo wants to leave office, good riddance. So much for your duty Tom.
